Cohen & Master was founded in 2002 by Tait Sala and Tomas Cohen with a shared love for tree climbing, nature, and customer service. Over two decades of relentless dedication, continuous education, and ethical stewardship, the company has expanded into one of the most respected full-service arboricultural firms in Ontario.
In 2021, we welcomed Ian Bruce and Bruce Tree Expert Care to our team. Ian Bruce is recognized as one of the foremost arborists in North America, having shaped industry standards through progressive tree preservation methodologies and education.

Tait Sala
Founding Partner
Tait Sala is a founding partner of Cohen & Master Tree and Shrub Services Ltd. Over his 25-year career as an ISA Certified Arborist, Tait has been involved in all aspects of Arboriculture—from pruning expert and Plant Health Care specialist to tree planter and consulting arborist. Tait's happy place is a day in the field with the team, climbing trees and serving our customers!
Tomas Cohen
Founding Partner
Tomas Cohen is a founding partner of Cohen & Master. Since 2002, Tomas, along with business partner Tait Sala, has grown Cohen & Master from 'two friends and a truck' to an elite team of arborists and support staff serving over 10,000 customers across the GTA. Tomas is committed to staying on the cutting edge of arboricultural technologies and methods.
Mike McKenna
Senior Arborist & Estimator
Mike is a senior sales arborist at Cohen & Master with a decade of dedication. Mike started his career at C&M as a production arborist before moving into client-facing consulting. He loves collaborating with homeowners and property managers to maintain Toronto's urban canopy.
Ray Walker
Arborist & Estimator
Ray Walker brings over 9 years of expertise diagnosing tree issues, pruning requirements, and plant health care programs. Ray is deeply passionate about the urban landscape with an ask-me-anything attitude, determined to teach everyone he encounters something new about trees.
Kyle Forster
Arborist & Estimator
Kyle has spent nine years growing with Cohen & Master, including six years hands-on in the field. He has a strong foundation in plant health and juvenile tree establishment, focusing on sustainability, longevity, and lasting curb appeal.
Rob Birtles
Arborist Crew Leader & Estimator
Rob Birtles is an active crew leader and sales arborist. He coordinates field projects to make trees healthy, safe, and beautiful, spending his days climbing through the canopy and meeting clients across the GTA.
